The scheme's owner SNG (Sovereign Network Group), who bought the scheme in 2023, has now refocussed on a strategy for Princes Mead to strengthen its position as the dominant retail offer in this busy Hampshire town centre.
With strong anchors including Asda, Smyths Toys, Boots, Decathlon and JD Sports, Nick Symons and India Bebb are now marketing new opportunities as they lead on the leasing strategy alongside our Lease Advisory team - Lisa Hardy and George Swinn. Working closely with asset manager NewRiver REIT’s Piers Glyn Davies and Simon Anderson, the FMX team will be involved in curating a long-term tenant mix to futureproof the scheme.
This new instruction also offers a nice full-circle moment, being the first shopping centre Nick Symons was instructed on back in the early 90s when at Blair Kirkman, working alongside joint agent Scott Murdoch, then of his eponymous firm Carter Wassell Murdoch.
"Princes Mead had only been open a couple of years when I first got involved," says Nick. "It is great to see that the scheme has retained its central role in the town centre, despite all the changes in shopping habits and new competition in this part of Hampshire. Our job now is to ensure it is fit for purpose for another 30 years.”
The FMX team will be taking a deep dive into the strong local demographics, understanding how people actually use the town centre, and shaping a tenant mix that works for both customers of today and the future, not yesterday’s assumptions.
It’s the same approach we’re busy delivering at The Spires in High Barnet, Hale Leys in Aylesbury, and Royal Priors in Royal Leamington Spa, where strategic leasing is ensuring a future-proofed scheme.
We’re hugely excited to bring that same energy, expertise and hands-on approach to Princes Mead. Keep an eye out for progress updates as we go!
