FMX October Highlights

31 October, 2024
It may be Halloween today, but as we look back at our October highlights, it’s been a pretty fang-tastic month – no tricks, just plenty of treats! We’ve certainly covered the ground, with our work taking us from Belfast to York, Barnstaple to Nottingham, as we visited clients, spoke at conferences, and popped into a very special store opening! Take a look at just some of our October highlights.

1️⃣ Tom Heptonstall's wife Katie Heptonstall has opened a stunning new childrenswear independent, Eleanor Charles on Grape Lane in York, and Graham Fawcett was one of the first to pay a visit!  We know it’s going to be a huge success.

2️⃣ Nick Symons and Charlie Spilsbury went on an exploratory trip to Belfast to experience all this dynamic city has to offer, taking in the new Apple and H&M stores, as well as spotting mysterious giant tentacles emerging from EE's store – part of Belfast One BID's Monster Takeover initiative for Halloween!

3️⃣ It’s always a big deal signing Pret to a scheme, but this was even more so the case when Hugo Mackichan helped secure a deal for the brand to open its 700th global store at our client Crosstree's Edmonton Green Shopping Centre.

4️⃣ We’ve also had an exceptionally busy month at centre:mk in Milton Keynes where our flurry of recent signings has led to both Mint Velvet and The Entertainer opening stores, while Space NK, Bill's, Barclays and Cornish Bakery also started fitting out.

5️⃣ The investment team has been heads down this month wrapping up key deals for our longstanding clients, including the sale of 109/113 High Street in West Wickham on behalf of Glenstone, and the acquisition of Roundswell Retail Park in Barnstaple for Columbia Threadneedle Investments.

6️⃣ Graham Fawcett also spent a day inspiring the next generation of property talent and debating the future of UK high streets at Nottingham Trent University’s Retail Conference.

7️⃣ October’s Monthly Market Meet-up was another key highlight which brought us together with key clients and industry friends over breakfast at the Wolseley to discuss how to prep for this week’s Budget and current market trends.

8️⃣ As a team we also all enjoyed seeing David Jinks don his robes to be appointed Senior Warden of The Chartered Surveyors' Company, taking on a key role in the Livery’s work to increase diversity and inclusion across the property industry.
