Morgan Garfield

Expertise

Morgan has worked extensively across retail real estate and structured over £1bn of acquisitions. He has significant experience of shopping centre acquisition and disposals and decades of expertise in distressed debt acquisition and restructuring. At FMX his role is to support business development and to provide strategic advice to the partners to support the on-going growth of the business.

Background

Morgan started his career as a banker at Rothschilds. He specialised in property finance and went on to be one of the youngest Managing Directors at Deutsche Bank, with responsibility for UK property finance. In 2008 he co-founded Ellandi. It went on to be a leading retail asset manager being involved in over 50 projects and acquiring £1.25bn of assets. Ellandi was successfully sold to NewRiver REIT in 2024. Morgan then became Head of Capital Partnership at NewRiver.

He was an original member of the BPF Retail Board and served as Chairman. He has received numerous awards including Property Entrepreneur of the Year. Morgan has an MA in Geography from Cambridge University but has never worked as a Geography teacher.

Interests

Morgan is an aging sportsman; a former rugby and football player. He is now typically found moaning about aches and pains whilst stood on a touch line supporting his two sons. He can still manage to ski to lunch and occasionally to dance on a table.
