International shoe manufacturer and retailer Clarks sign at Rockspring’s Friars Square

17 March, 2018
MMX Retail and Savills (Bristol) have completed a new deal at Friars Square Shopping Centre (“Friars Square”), Aylesbury, to British based international shoe manufacturer and retailer Clarks.

Friars Square is owned by Rockspring Property Investment Managers LLP’s (“Rockspring”) UK Value 2 fund.

Clarks has followed the likes of Vision Express in making the decision to relocate from Hale Leys as they move to a 2,405 sq ft unit at Friars Square on a ten-year lease. With Next having also made the same move, this marks the third relocation from Hale Leys by a major high street retailer.

The 300,000 sq ft Friars Square underwent a multi-million pound redevelopment in 2013, which saw it attract new, high-quality brands such as H&M, River Island and Topshop. Next opened a new 22,000 sq ft store in 2016.

Olivia O’Neill at MMX Retail said: “The location of Friars Square provides a unique opportunity for retailers in the town, and the fact that Clarks is the third major retailer to make the move from Hale Leys, pays testament to the quality of the retail space on offer in Friars Square.”

Rockspring were advised by MMX Retail and Savills (Bristol).
