MMX Retail’s Charity Challenge Campaign Lifts Off

23 July, 2018
MMX Retail has completed the first couple of challenges in its bid to undertake 12 challenges in 12 months to support Alex Hobbs and The Brain Tumour Charity.

Alex is the son of David Hobbs (Partner at MMX Retail) and was diagnosed with a type of Brain Tumour known as Medulloblastoma back in September 2017, aged just three and a half years old.

As part of the effort to raise money for Alex’s cause, the team at MMX were subject to a weeklong lift to their 4th floor office. With a fine for each infraction, a number of the team found themselves giving generously in the early part of the week. While the team’s fitness improved as people remembered to use the stairs, occasional forgetfulness meant that people were still giving generously over the five days.

MMX Retail also organised an informal 5k run around Hyde Park. Open to friends, family, colleagues and clients, participants made a donation in return for a Brain Tumour Charity t-shirt and enjoyed an evening run (or walk) around the park. The heat wave was in full force but impressive finishing times were still recorded, with the fastest completing the loop in around 20 minutes while others decided to enjoy a leisurely evening stroll. Whatever their means, the event was a huge success and was followed with a sociable drink at The Audley.

Other charitable challenges completed this year include Nick Symons taking part in the Moon Walk in order to raise money and awareness to unite against breast cancer, and Alex John and Harriet Watson surviving the heat to complete the JLL Duathlon. Meanwhile, David Jinks is over half way through his challenge of climbing the height of Everest – climbing various peaks throughout the year, with just 3,500m left to go.

The next challenge is due to take place at the end of the summer as the team will continue to work hard in support of Alex. The year will culminate with a yet to be announced challenge which will push them to the limits.
