From a small food hall and GM offer, to a near 60,000 sq ft flagship, Marks and Spencer’s Orpington store has undergone a major transformation, with FMX having been there to support our client through every step of the process.
When British Land developed Nugent Retail Park in 2007, FMX’s David Justice secured the original M&S unit as part of a wider resite strategy, following the sale of their previous town centre store to Sainsbury’s (who still occupy the site today).
Nugent quickly became one of the South East’s busiest shopping destinations - making a larger, more impactful M&S store the next logical step. M&S instructed FMX to look for an upsize opportunity and after an extensive search, we negotiated terms with British Land via McMullen Real Estate to upsize the original store - delivering a 35,000 sq ft ground floor space with a 24,000 sq ft trading mezzanine.
This new, enhanced format brings together food and GM, aligning perfectly with M&S’s ongoing ambitious transformation programme and strengthening their presence on one of the UK’s most successful retail parks.
We are still supporting M&S on it’s continued expansion within the M25. If you know of the perfect next location, get in touch with David Justice, Henry Foreman or Howard Quigley.
