The Crown Estate confirms the start of works at Crowngate Shopping Centre

4 February, 2019
The Crown Estate has made public its plans to invest in the Angel Place entrance to Crowngate Shopping Centre in Worcester.

The entrance works form part of The Crown Estate’s commitment to build on the reputation of Crowngate Shopping Centre and Worcester as a great place to shop, work and visit.

The works represent a £1.5million investment by The Crown Estate in Worcester; following the improvement works to the surrounding public realm and marketplace, creating a better environment for shoppers.

The shopping centre will remain open throughout the works, with stores trading as normal. The works are due to commence in March and will include new windows and a refurbished shopping centre elevation at Angel Place, modernising the entrance and introducing a new window box with improved signage throughout.

Nicole Campbell, Asset Manager at The Crown Estate, said: “Our plans to refurbish the façade of Angel Place will help enhance this part of the city and create a more welcoming entrance to Friary walk. We believe our investment into Friary Walk will benefit the whole city as it will attract more visitors and more businesses to Worcester, creating opportunities for existing businesses as well as giving an opportunity for new brands to come to the area.”

Nick Symons, Partner at MMX Retail comments: “Friary Walk and Angel Place continue to play a key role in the retail fabric of Worcester City Centre. This inward investment by The Crown Estate is a significant statement of their belief of the future of the scheme and its importance to the overall City of Worcester.”
